Estimation Method

The calculator estimates boxes and packing materials based on these factors:

1. Room type: Each room type has a base box count (kitchens need more small boxes for dishes; bedrooms need medium boxes for clothing).
2. Room quantity: Multiple rooms of the same type multiply the base estimates.
3. Belongings density: Light packers use fewer boxes; heavy packers need significantly more.
4. Special items: Books, fragile items, art, and electronics require specific box types and extra packing materials.

Box Size Guide

• Small (16″ × 12″ × 12″): Books, CDs, heavy items, canned goods, tools
• Medium (18″ × 18″ × 16″): Clothes, toys, kitchen appliances, shoes, pots & pans
• Large (24″ × 18″ × 18″): Bedding, pillows, lampshades, towels, light bulky items
• Specialty: Wardrobe boxes for hanging clothes, dish packs for fragile dishware, picture boxes for art & mirrors

Packing Tips

• Pack heavy items in small boxes and light items in large boxes
• Wrap fragile items individually with packing paper or bubble wrap
• Fill empty spaces in boxes with packing paper to prevent shifting
• Label every box with contents and destination room
• Use wardrobe boxes to keep clothes on hangers wrinkle-free
